From March 2024 to May 2025, Perplexity scaled annualized revenue from ~$16 million to $120 million, representing 7.6x growth in 14 months. The product has become a leading challenger in the consumer search space, outperforming incumbent tools in engagement and response quality. Its dual moat—combining an expanding real-time index and human feedback-driven model refinement—enables performance at scale while maintaining trust. The founding team includes AI researchers and operators from OpenAI, DeepMind, Meta, and Databricks, bringing technical depth and high execution velocity.
