World Labs was founded by visionary AI pioneer Fei-Fei Li along with Justin Johnson, Christoph Lassner, and Ben Mildenhall; each a world-renowned technologist in computer vision and graphics. We are bringing together the most formidable slate of pixel talent ever assembled - from AI research to systems engineering to product design - creating a tight feedback loop between our spatially intelligent foundation models and products that will empower our users.

World Labs is building what could be the next major platform shift in AI: spatial intelligence. Founded in 2024 by Fei-Fei Li, Justin Johnson, Ben Mildenhall, and Christoph Lassner, the company is developing Large World Models (LWMs) that can perceive, generate, and reason about the 3D world. If LLMs unlocked language as an interface, World Labs is aiming to do the same for space and physics, creating AI systems that can construct and interact with digital worlds governed by semantics, causality, and real-world constraints. The founding team is uniquely positioned to crack this problem: Li is the “godmother of AI” and a pioneer of computer vision, Johnson is a leader in generative vision research, Mildenhall created NeRFs, and Lassner has driven breakthroughs across graphics and reconstruction. Together, they bring the mix of research, systems, and product DNA that this challenge requires.

The company has raised over $100 million in two rounds within months of founding, rocketing from a $200M valuation to over $1B in less than four months. Investors include a16z, Radical Ventures, NEA, Sequoia, and others, underscoring the conviction that solving spatial intelligence will be as transformative as the LLM wave. The applications are immediate and expansive: design, VFX, AR/VR, and gaming in the short term, and eventually robotics and embodied AI as hardware catches up. While creating world models is a technically daunting challenge given the scarcity of 3D data, the market prize is enormous. If successful, World Labs could redefine how humans and AI build, reason, and interact with digital and physical worlds.
